Crypto: Bitcoin Enters « Soft Bull Market », $82,000 Could Change Everything
Dr. Profit believes the Bitcoin bear market is over. For crypto markets, $78,500, $82,000, and $71,000 are now the key levels to watch.

Bitcoin is trading around $78,000 following a gain of more than 20% in August. According to analyst Dr. Profit, the bear market is now over, with BTC having entered a « soft bull market » since August 20. His scenario relies on three key levels: $71,000 for support, $78,500 for immediate resistance, and $82,000 to trigger a much more aggressive bullish phase.
Crypto: $78,500 Still Separates Bitcoin from $82,000
Dr. Profit has not changed his stance for a week. Between $71,000 and $78,500, he believes, most movement is just noise. Bitcoin is currently testing this upper limit, having briefly surpassed $81,000 during the week before pulling back.
He is far from the only one watching this zone. Peter Brandt also maintains a bullish outlook as BTC struggles against $80,000–$82,000. Read Bref Crypto’s analysis of Peter Brandt and $82,000
For Dr. Profit, a clean breakout above $78,500 would put $82,000 back in focus. It is at this key level that his terminology shifts: a strong breakthrough would, in his view, trigger a « full bull market escalation. » The market is not there just yet.
The Rebound From $60,000 Has Changed the Crypto Landscape
Bitcoin was still trading below $65,000 at the beginning of August. Just a few weeks later, it broke past $80,000, recording one of its sharpest rebounds of the year.
Dr. Profit views the strong reaction around $60,000 as proof that significant capital was simply waiting for a major dip to buy. Investors who were holding out for $50,000 or $40,000 have, for now, missed their entry point.
The recovery was also fueled by massive liquidations of short positions. CoinDesk estimates that the preceding rally triggered a short squeeze of over $3 billion. Reuters, for its part, noted that Bitcoin had gained roughly 28% in August as it breached the $80,000 mark. See the market data reported by Reuters

$71,000 Remains the Red Line
Dr. Profit’s optimism does not mean Bitcoin is immune to a correction. He even considers a retest of $71,000 to be possible, though it is not his primary scenario.
His technical argument is also based on momentum. In his view, the daily RSI already appears high, while weekly and monthly indicators remain more neutral. In other words, the recent rally may not have yet generated the excessive leverage typically associated with the final phases of a market cycle.
At the same time, BlackRock is offering a more fundamental interpretation: rising US debt, fiscal deficits, and the search for alternative monetary assets could continue to support Bitcoin over a much longer horizon. Read Bref Crypto’s analysis of Bitcoin and BlackRock
The outlook is therefore quite clear. As long as $71,000 holds, the market structure established since the August lows remains intact. Above $78,500, buyers regain the upper hand. At $82,000, we would no longer be talking about a simple rebound: Bitcoin would truly begin testing the transition into a new phase of the crypto cycle.
In Brief
- Dr. Profit believes Bitcoin has been in a « soft bull market » since August 20.
- The $78,500 level acts as immediate resistance before the key $82,000 threshold.
- The $71,000 support level remains the red line for his bullish outlook.
