The sources reviewed describe Bankily as a service of Banque Populaire de Mauritanie, without establishing any official Bitcoin integration. This guide explains how to assess an offer that links the two names. It does not endorse any seller or provide a certified purchase process available to all customers.
In brief
- Bankily payment and Bitcoin delivery require separate, matching evidence.
- The beneficiary’s name, the budget in MRU and the net quantity must appear in the order.
- Your banking code and wallet recovery phrase must remain secret, even when dealing with supposed support staff.
Bitcoin with Bankily: understanding the boundary between the two channels
Our guide to buying crypto with a mobile payment distinguishes between money sent and assets received. The same separation applies to any offer using Bankily to fund a purchase. The app may process a banking transaction without becoming the Bitcoin seller or guaranteeing the contract agreed with an independent intermediary.
The official Bankily FAQ identifies the product as a mobile banking service operated by Banque Populaire de Mauritanie. It describes banking transactions and payments in particular. This source does not support attributing a Bitcoin function to the product. A name appearing in an advertisement or video does not prove a technical or commercial partnership.
A receipt can establish the amount, time and beneficiary of a payment. Bitcoin delivery requires separate confirmation of the network, destination and quantity. Even a genuine public transaction may involve an address other than yours. Match its parameters against the order rather than treating every identifier presented by the seller as sufficient proof.
An internal balance held with a provider is a separate situation. You may see a balance marked as BTC without having received an external transfer. Before paying, ask whether the offer involves custody or delivery to your own wallet. Disputes over withdrawals may stem from an initial ambiguity about what was purchased, not merely from a technical delay.
The payment terms must also be checked. The availability of a banking feature does not mean that every intended use complies with the contract or applicable framework. Confirm the beneficiary and purpose without falsifying any information. No convenient interface removes the need to examine the seller and the nature of the proposed transaction.
Verify the seller and set the budget in MRU
The first document concerns the identity of the contracting party. Our method for comparing platforms and legal statuses helps you request the legal name, role and terms. A local number capable of receiving money is not, by itself, proof of authorization. A reputation in a group does not replace service documentation.
Request a written quote stating the total amount in MRU, the net BTC amount, the destination and the timeframe. Do not let the word ouguiya alone define the unit. The difference between the old and new units can create significant confusion. The customer and seller must confirm the same amount rather than relying on spoken conventions they may not interpret in the same way.
The payment beneficiary must match the documented process. If a third party collects the funds, ask about its role and request a verifiable explanation. A sudden change of name or account after the agreement should halt the transaction. The promise of faster delivery is no reason to make the payment evidence harder to link to the original contract.
Our guide to KYC and personal documents recommends checking the recipient before sending identification. A seller may request identification under its own framework, but that does not give it access to your banking secrets. Verify the channel and purpose. A photo of an entire identity card or a validation code is not harmless information.
No specific intermediary received legal or commercial approval in this research. The presence of a banking payment does not establish its status for crypto activity. For professional use, have the arrangement reviewed locally. If the seller refuses to clarify its identity while pressuring you to pay, the budget should remain available rather than being sent on the basis of an unverifiable promise.
Calculate the BTC delivered and the cost of the next step
Our guide to fees and the total cost of buying connects spending with the units actually received. The calculation must include the payment, conversion and intended transfer, without attributing an invented fee to Bankily. If a cost remains unknown, have it confirmed before treating the quote as final.
Consider a completely fictitious example. The seller requests 2 800 MRU, and the payment adds a 28 MRU cost in this scenario. The final amount received is 0,0008 BTC. The total budget is 2 828 MRU for 80 000 satoshis. Its effective cost comes to 3 535 000 MRU per BTC delivered, without purchasing a full unit.
This figure is only useful for comparing different processes. It is neither a current market price nor a Bankily rate. Another offer delivering 0,00079 BTC for the same debit would be less favorable in terms of net quantity. The 0,00001 BTC difference represents 1 000 satoshis. A lower advertised commission would not automatically offset that difference in the final result.
The quote date also matters. Ask when the price is fixed and what happens if the market moves while the payment is being processed. An estimate may change before execution; a firm promise is binding according to its terms. The seller must explain this distinction rather than silently changing the quantity after receiving the money.
Finally, check the minimums and the exit route. Receiving BTC does not guarantee an immediate resale for MRU. If the funds are intended for a near-term expense, the reverse process must work for the actual amount and your profile. A solution whose final step remains unknown after the purchase does not yet meet the payment objective.
Protect your codes and verify the Bitcoin destination
The Bankily FAQ states that your confidential code must not be shared, including with bank staff. A seller asking for it to confirm Bitcoin delivery is requesting authority unrelated to its delivery obligation. It may need a payment reference, not the ability to authorize transactions on your account.
Your phone must remain under your control. Remote access can expose notifications and enable unwanted actions. Access the service through your own means, not through an unlocking link received in a message. If the support interaction seems unusual, independently verify its origin before approving anything else.
For Bitcoin, our guide to wallets and key control explains the difference between a public address and a recovery secret. The address is used to receive funds in the appropriate process. The recovery phrase gives control over the assets. Do not send it to a seller or adviser claiming to check wallet compatibility.
The Bitcoin security documentation provides guidance on backups and the risks of online services. Check the network and address from the trusted destination. Software can replace a copied address; review the details before sending and do not rely solely on the appearance of a completed message.
A limited test can help confirm your understanding when the thresholds allow it. Wait for the funds to arrive according to the receiving wallet’s rules before proceeding. This test does not certify future amounts or the seller’s continued operation. A new instruction, another address or a change of beneficiary requires the relevant checks to be repeated.
Respond in the right place when a step is blocked
If the bank debit remains pending, gather the reference and contact the appropriate party for that payment. If the seller confirms receipt but does not deliver, the issue concerns its obligation. A transaction already broadcast to your destination requires a different assessment. Identifying the status prevents you from asking each support team to intervene in something it does not control.
Keep the quote, messages, stated identity and original receipts. Any complaint copy should conceal secrets and unnecessary data. The amount, time and references are often enough to begin an investigation. A support contact asking for all your access credentials instead of this evidence warrants additional verification before you respond.
Reject unexpected advance payments to activate a withdrawal, synchronize a wallet or pay a tax to a private account. Someone promising to recover funds systematically may create a second fraud. Ask for the basis of the procedure and verify the contact through an independent channel. Urgency does not give the person technical authority.
If a refund and a delivery overlap, tell the official contacts what was actually received. Do not try to obtain the same value twice, and do not provide an inaccurate statement to speed up the process. An honest timeline protects the consistency of the case and makes the dispute easier to understand, without guaranteeing its outcome.
Bitcoin with Bankily should therefore be understood as two chains of evidence, where a compatible process exists: MRU paid to the correct beneficiary, followed by BTC received at the correct destination. No receipt combines these responsibilities. Until both events are clearly connected in the order, a payment must not be mistaken for a completed crypto purchase.
